Consider me your swiss army knife of content creation and digital engagement.

In fact, one of my more recent clients at Square dubbed me a “unicorn” when it came to my cross-pollinating knowledge of nuances across copywriting and social media and the overlap.

I’m a Libra, so this balance of brain activity makes sense. I’ve always felt like I live with one foot in the creative and the other in the practical. It’s a trait that guides my career choices still, and every day is an adventure!

A little bit about the journey that led me here:

  • Fresh outta school and nowhere to go: After putting myself through university managing a district-run daycare facility (which I attribute to helping with my cat-wrangling skills), I graduated with a BA in English Literature and wondered… now what?

  • A brief stint as a Journo: So I returned to school briefly, taking a course in Journalism studies, which landed me a gig at the bottom (calendar section, baby!) for the LA Times community bureau. I quickly rose in the ranks to cover crime and entertainment across Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach areas. However, the papers were struggling with a little thing called “THE RISE OF THE INTERNET…NET…NETS” and layoffs were almost guaranteed for those of us newer to the scene. Feeling the waters rising through the floorboard, I jumped ship, swam to the dark side, and waded the waters of marketing.

  • And now for something completely different, sort of: Trying my hand at copywriting for an e-commerce brand in 2008, I watched yet another player gaining momentum — SOCIAL MEDIA. With these emerging and free tools came the opportunity for brands to leverage more ownership over how their message was broadcast, and — even more appealing — the functionality to engage in a direct dialogue with their audiences. Once again, I returned to a learning facility to soak up what little higher-educational resources there were on the topic at the time. Left with a Master’s Certificate in Advanced Social Media and started passionately spreading the word to everyone from the average Joe to the not-so-average CEO.

  • San Francisco, here I come: Continuing to hone my copy creation and social skills, I ventured north to the Bay Area where I hopped between a few startups and creative groups before landing at LEWIS Global. During my time there, I rose up to run the agency’s largest digital marketing account ($ 1 million retainer + ad spend) including expansion into EMEA. I led massive and growing accounts for Cisco, McAfee, Intel, TiVo, and Riverbed Technology as well as a few smaller programs. But, during a pitch that won my account business in the UK, I fell madly in love with London and decided it was time for a new living experience. As the stars would have it, I was soon approached with a proposal to launch digital marketing efforts for a scale-up conferencing software developer in Shoreditch. One of the more terrifying and exhilarating decisions I can remember, with dog and dude in tow, of course, I lept into a completely new life.

  • A big leap across a small pond: Landed in London and hit the ground running, leading the launch of a new website, brand overhaul and ramp-up to IPO — all within my first three months at the LoopUp Group. Over the rest of my tenure, I built up a team from three to nine, and expanded our program to include an international swath of field marketing events, direct mail programs, and even a massive OOH campaign throughout major stations along the London Underground. Our campaigns were highly successful and helped to expand the business both in size and scope. Unfortunately, family illnesses back home compelled us to return to the US. We miss the UK greatly, and I look forward to returning one day.

When not drafting quippy copy, or coordinating a major media campaign, you’ll find me painting, watching a cult 80’s film, enjoying a glass of Royal Tokaji, or plodding the streets of Los Angeles with my insta-famous french bulldog, @gambitthefrenchie, all while documenting our explorations through photography and snark.

I am WSET Level 3 certified, and plan on completing my wine education diploma in the next year, as well as expanding my knowledge base to spirits.

If there’s something happening in food, wine, film, tech or the written word... I've got my nose in it or will soon. I enjoy working with groups that embrace the evolution of media but also seek to experiment in calculated and strategic ways.
